13 Colors, My Mom, & the Moment I Questioned Everything

The Marbleizing of the Living Room - from Bruises to Beauty

I used 13 colors to faux marbleize my entire living room — inspired by a rug with over 50 colors I inherited when my mom relocaed to Costa Rica. She flew in to help. Somewhere around 40% into the project, I was feeling defeated by my own grandiose plan. I tell the full story of what happened next — including the ugly middle photos, the breakthrough, before/afters, and three 360° room tours in dramatic daylight, cozy after dark, and magical candlelight.

A love story between a girl and a house

Most people fall in love with someone their own age. I fell for a 115-year-old. Her name is Forteza Luce. An 1892 Victorian with great bones and terrible wallpaper. She gets all my best ideas, most of my sleep, and every color I can find. This is where I share her, and all my other creative obsessions.
